It’s pitch black… I can feel the tension, and I can hear people thinking: Where did we end up? Once we turn the corner, we see a thousand flickering candles — but besides that… nothing!
All of a sudden soft music begins to play and we see a beautiful Cambodian Apsara lady dancing in a very elegant way. The music builds, faster and louder until, with a sudden bang, all the lights come on. Gasps fill the air. My guests can’t believe their eyes. Tonight’s dinner setting: a majestic Angkor temple, glowing under the night sky in the heart of the Siem Reap jungle — one of the most beautiful UNESCO heritage sites I’ve ever seen.
Fifteen years ago, when I chose to specialize in ‘Incentives’ during my tourism studies, I had a crystal-clear vision. One day, I would organize a breathtaking dinner at one of the Angkor temples in Cambodia. To make this dream a reality, I first had to find an inspiring incentive agency where I could intern and learn the ins and outs of the industry. That’s how I ended up at FAME Travel Designers — and from day one, I knew: WOW, this is the job of my life!
When I was offered a permanent position at the end of my internship, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I jumped at the opportunity. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of managing every aspect of an incentive project — from sales and creative development to budgeting, logistics, and ultimately, the on-site execution. And that last part? That’s always been the cherry on top!
When Elke, the managing director, asked me at the age of 25 to help lead FAME and become a partner in the business, I had to take a moment to process it. Was I really ready for this? I was still so young, I had no management experience… Young, thankful and fearless, I embraced this opportunity with both hands — determined to make it work.
A few years passed — filled with incredible projects and hard work to help FAME grow. But before I even realized it, my original dream came true. The very reason why, 15 years ago, I chose to specialize in incentive travel at university. My dream unfolding right before my eyes. The glow of the candles, the majestic backdrop of the temple, the awe on my guests’ faces… It was pure magic. And even now, years later, it stands out as one of the most unforgettable moments of my career.
With my dream coming true, I only became more motivated to help turn FAME into a true success story alongside Elke. Together with our team, we remain fully committed to creating unforgettable memories for our clients.
